Sign in and unlock
Unlock DocuID Desktop with your iVALT phone approval — or Touch ID on a trusted device.
The desktop app uses the same identity as the website: your registered mobile number plus an iVALT approval. Signing in unwraps your vault keys into memory; they are never written to disk and they are dropped when you quit.
Open the app
Launch DocuID. If you double-clicked a .docuid file while signed out, the app opens to
the lock screen and queues that file — it opens after you unlock.
Enter your mobile number
Type the number you registered in iVALT and click Send biometric push. Approve the request on your phone within about 40 seconds.
On first sign-in on any device, the app generates your encryption keys (a 4096-bit RSA pair plus a vault secret) and shows your recovery key once — store it offline.
Or unlock with Touch ID
With Stay Unlocked Here enabled (the default), the app caches your key in the OS keychain for 24 hours. On macOS the lock screen then offers Unlock with Touch ID — one fingerprint and you are in, no phone needed.
The cache is sealed by the operating system, expires after 24 hours, is invalidated by reinstalling, and is deleted when you sign out or turn the setting off.
When the app locks
- Quit or sign out — keys drop immediately.
- Key rotation — if your keys were rotated elsewhere, the app relocks cleanly while keeping your open tabs; unlock again to continue.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Push never arrives | Check iVALT notifications on your phone, then resend. |
| Verification timed out | The approval window is ~40 seconds; send the push again. |
| No Touch ID button | Stay Unlocked is off, the 24-hour window expired, or you reinstalled. |
| Recovery needed | Enter your recovery key to restore vault access. |
