Browse and organize
Folders, search, tags, and the file menu in the active workspace.
Files is the home for everything you own in the current workspace: folder tree, breadcrumbs, grid or list, search, and filters.
When you use it
Finding a file, making a folder, tagging, renaming, moving, or starting a share.
Open Files
Choose Files in the sidebar, or go to app.docuid.net/files. The tree and list always reflect the active workspace.
Search and filter
Switch Active and Trash, search by name or type, filter by tags, and choose grid or list.
Folders and tags
New folder creates a folder in this workspace. Tags are personal labels (name + color) you assign to files or folders and then filter by. Tags are not shared with other people.
Items shared with you
Active shares from other people appear at the top level of Files with the owner's initials and a Shared with me label. They stay in the owner's space: you cannot rename, move, delete, or select them here. The tag filter and folder views hide them, and pending invites wait in Shared with me until you accept.
Row actions
Open the row menu (···) to view, rename, move, delete, or Share. Sharing is covered
in Share a document.
Share several files at once
Select one or more files, then choose Share in the action bar. One file opens the normal share flow. Two or more open multi-file sharing, up to 100 files at once. Archived and deleted items are left out. If your selection also has folders, choose Share N documents only, or Share folders when exactly one folder is selected. Folders are shared one at a time. With more than 100 files the button is disabled and a tooltip explains why.
Options and limits
| Action | Scope |
|---|---|
| Folders and files | Active workspace only |
| Tags | Yours alone — not visible to teammates as shared taxonomy |
| Search | Current workspace |
| Share | Opens the share wizard for that file |
| Share (bulk) | 1 to 100 files; two or more share together, recipients without keys are skipped |
| Shared with you | Active incoming items show at the top level of Files; pending ones stay in Shared with me |
If something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Empty list | You may be in the wrong workspace — check the switcher. |
| Cannot see a teammate’s file | Workspaces isolate files. They must share it or put it in a workspace you both use. |
| Tag missing for a colleague | Tags are personal; they need their own. |
