Settings and shortcuts

Output folder, trusted device, default protection mode, theme, and the full keyboard map.

Open Settings from the gear in the app header. Preferences are stored locally on the device — nothing below is synced.

The settings dialog.

Protected files location

Where new .docuid envelopes are written. Default: the same folder as the source file. Pick a dedicated folder (for example ~/Documents/DocuID) to keep envelopes together, or Reset to go back. If the folder is deleted or unwritable, the app silently falls back to the source folder.

Stay Unlocked Here

Caches your vault key in the OS keychain so the lock screen can offer Touch ID (or the platform credential store) instead of a phone approval. Details in Sign in and unlock. Turning it off deletes the cached key.

Default protection mode

The level pre-selected when you drop a file: Device envelope, Cloud + sharing, or Local Only — plus Prompt on drop to always show the picker. Per-file you can still override it in the protection screen.

Theme and profile

  • Theme — light, dark, or system (default), from the lock screen or your profile menu.
  • Profile — click your avatar: identity, vault status, theme, and Sign out (drops keys, clears the session and trusted-device cache, closes all tabs).

Demo mode

A UI-only walkthrough for evaluating the app without an account: on the lock screen, Continue as Jaskaran opens the demo station — every screen plus a viewer running real sample files (PDF, Office, image). Demo mode ships off in packaged builds and can be replayed from the floating Demo panel in dev builds.
