Share from desktop
Grant someone access to an open .docuid by mobile number or email — revoke anytime.
You can share a document you own directly from the open tab — the same share model as the website, applied to a file that may physically live on a USB stick. Revoking still works: access checks happen per open, not per copy.
Open the share panel
Open the .docuid you own and click Share in the viewer toolbar (or share straight
from the result card after protecting a file). Recipients and Local Only files do not get
the button — the owner grants, recipients do not re-share.
Add a recipient
Enter a mobile number or email. The app looks up their public key and re-wraps your document key for them on-device — the raw key never leaves memory.
New to DocuID? They get an invite; the share shows Invited until they register and open it.
Set access controls
Under Security & access controls:
- Allow printing and Allow plaintext export — off by default, grant-time only.
- Require owner approval — every open asks for your biometric sign-off first.
- Expiry — never, 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or a custom date.
- View limit — unlimited, 1, 3, 10, or a custom count.
Manage or revoke
The recipient list shows Active / Invited / Revoked / Expired. Edit access level, expiry, view limit, or the approval requirement anytime; Revoke cuts access immediately. Because every open checks the server, revocation works even on copies the recipient already has.
Good to know
- Printing and export can be disabled but cannot be re-added later — they are locked at grant time. Re-share if you need to change them.
- Sharing needs connectivity: the recipient's key lookup and access checks are server-side. Local Only envelopes cannot be shared at all.
- The same document is shared once — opening it in the workspace shows the same recipients and limits.
