Invitations
Invite people to DocuID and track files waiting on someone who has not finished setup.
Invitations covers two things: people you invited to join DocuID, and files you shared with an email address that has no DocuID account yet. Each row shows where the invitation stands, and access is released only to the invited address.
When you use it
You want to bring a new person onto DocuID, check whether a shared file was claimed, or resend and cancel an invitation.
Open Invitations
Choose Invitations in the sidebar or go to app.docuid.net/invitations.
Invite someone to DocuID
Choose Invite to DocuID, enter their email, and send. No file is attached: the email names you and explains what the person can do after signing in. The row shows Waiting with the date the invitation ends. Invitations last 7 days, and inviting the same email again refreshes the open invitation instead of creating a second.
Or share a file with a new email
In the share wizard's Add people step, type the email address. When no DocuID account matches, the wizard offers an Invite row with the note "Not a DocuID user yet. Send an invite to claim this share." Choose it and send the share. The invitation then appears here with an Invited badge.
Folders and multi-file shares are limited to registered users, so they never show an invite option.
Track and follow up
Waiting rows have two actions. Resend sends the email again, and for a DocuID invite it also starts a fresh 7 days. Cancel withdraws the invitation: the email link stops working and the row leaves the list.
When the person finishes setup, a DocuID invite shows Joined and keeps no actions. A claimed file invite leaves Invitations and appears in My Shares as an active share.
What the recipient sees
They open the email and choose Get started. The iVALT app comes from the App Store or Google Play. The setup page then shows:
- Install iVALT.
- Register in iVALT with the invited email address.
- Sign in to DocuID.
Sign-in creates the account and key setup follows. For a file invite, the document name and sender are shown on that page, and the file waits in Shared with me. People who already have a DocuID account can choose the sign-in link instead of setting up again.
Options and limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Invitation window | 7 days. Resending a DocuID invite starts a new 7-day window. |
| File invite window | Lapses after 7 days when the share has no expiry of its own. After that, share the document again. |
| Matching address | Only the invited email can claim the invitation. |
| Existing accounts | Emails that already have a DocuID account are not invited; they receive access directly. |
| Folders and bulk | Registered users only. A file invite always covers one document. |
| One open invitation | Inviting the same email again refreshes the open invitation. |
If something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Invitation expired | Choose Resend while the row is listed. For a lapsed file invite, share the document again. |
| The email never arrived | Ask the recipient to check spam, then choose Resend. |
| "Sign in with the iVALT account registered to that email." | The person signed in with another account. Ask them to use the invited email address. |
| Wrong address | Choose Cancel, then invite the correct address. |
| The link says the invitation is closed | It was already claimed or cancelled. Resend it if it should still be open. |
| Row shows Joined but no file appeared | A DocuID invite carries no file. Share the document with that account when ready. |
